KEMET Suzhou Plant has evaluated and qualified the new black
epoxy material setting and will start the conversion from yellow
to black. This conversion allows KEMET to be consistent and
standardize with industry and minimize the future risk of
potential raw material cost escalation/availability related to
usage of yellow epoxy in specialized industries.

This change is planned for implementation to begin 1st week,
February 2014. Both yellow and black epoxy material will be
shipped until all finished goods inventory of yellow material is
depleted. No changes in the part number will be implemented.

KEMET T521 Series Organic (KO-CAP) Polymer Tantalum Capacitor - Expansion

KEMET now offers an Organic Capacitor version of its T521 Series High Voltage Polymer Tantalum Capacitor product line. KEMET's organic capacitor (KO-CAP) is a tantalum capacitor with a Ta anode and Ta₂O₅ dielectric and a conductive organic polymer that replaces the traditionally used MnO₂ as the cathode plate of the capacitor, resulting in very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at high frequency. Other KO-CAP features include voltage ratings to 35V, volumetric efficiency, up to 68µF capacitance value, high reliability, and stable temperature characteristics.

KEMET's T521 Series High Voltage Polymer Tantalum Capacitor is the first 35 volt rated polymer tantalum chip capacitor. This new technology involves advances in materials and the manufacturing process to produce a polymer tantalum capacitor suitable for applications of up to 28V of continuous duty, high voltage 16V - 35V. The T521 series features up to 68uF capacitance value, high ripple current capability, safe failure mode, and low ESR. T521 High Voltage Polymer Tantalum Capacitors

KEMET T521 KO-CAP® High Voltage Organic Polymer Tantalum Capacitors feature voltage ratings up to 75V and capacitance values up to 470µF, high ripple current capability, safe failure mode, and low ESR. These T521 capacitors are volumetrically efficient and have stable temperature characteristics. They are lead-free when ordered with 100% Sn termination finish, RoHS compliant, and halogen-free. These components are designed for DC-DC converters, power supply inputs, and higher application voltages such as 12V, 24V, 28V, and 48V input rails. The T521 KO-CAP Series features a Ta anode and Ta₂O₅ dielectric as well as a conductive organic polymer that replaces the traditionally used MnO₂ as the cathode plate of the capacitor. This results in very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at high frequency.
