TPS54335/36 Synchronous Step Down Converters

Texas Instruments TPS54335 / TPS543336 Synchronous Step Down Converters are 3A, low quiescent supply current synchronous DC-DC converter ICs with up to 28V input support. TI TPS54335/36 integrate MOSFETs and employ current mode switching control, making these devices ideal for compact designs on PCB and for reducing external component count. These buck converters provide accurate regulation for a variety of loads with a well-regulated voltage reference 1.5% over temperature. TPS54335 offers internal 2ms Soft-start and 50kHz to 1.5MHz adjustable frequency. TPS54336 features adjustable soft-start and fixed 340kHz frequency. These TI devices are ideal for use in a variety of applications, including consumer applications (DTVs, set top boxes, and LCD displays), battery chargers, and industrial and car audio power supplies.

TPS54335-2A Synchronous Step-Down Converter

Texas Instruments TPS54335-2A Synchronous Step-Down Converter comes with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V. This device has an integrated low-side switching FET that eliminates the need for an external diode which reduces component count. The device efficiency is maximized through integrated 128mΩ and 84mΩ MOSFETs, low IQ and pulse skipping at light loads. By using the enable pin, the shutdown supply current is reduced to 2μA. This step-down (buck) converter provides accurate regulation for a variety of loads with a well-regulated voltage reference that is 1.5% over temperature. Cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-side MOSFET protects the TPS54335-2A in overload situations and is enhanced by a low-side sourcing current limit which prevents current runaway. A low-side sinking current-limit turns off the low-side MOSFET to prevent excessive reverse current.
