The microwave click uses the Doppler effect to detect movement or proximity. The onboard microwave motion sensor transmits waves and detects the waves as they hit an object with their frequency changed. The Microwave click doesn't need optical visibility to work, and the waves can penetrate many kinds of barriers and obstacles.
