Infineon Technologies TLE5501 E0001 & E0002 XENSIV™ Magnetic Sensors
Infineon Technologies TLE5501 E0001 & E0002 XENSIV™ Magnetic Position Sensors are analog TMR-based angle sensors for any kind of angular position sensing. The TLE5501 is a 360° TMR-based angle sensor that detects the orientation of a magnetic field. This is achieved by measuring sine and cosine angle components with Tunneling Magneto Resistance (TMR) elements. These raw signals (sine and cosine) are provided as a differential output signal and can directly be further processed within a microcontroller. The large output voltage of the bridge renders any further signal amplification unnecessary.The TLE5501 E0001 is qualified according to AEC-Q100 and is pin-compatible to Infineon's established and market-proven TLE5009. No additional amplifier is necessary, enabling the creation of lower-cost systems.
The TLE5501 E0002 meets ISO 26262 Standards and is a milestone with regard to functional safety. This makes Infineon reach the automotive functional safety grade ASIL D for angle sensors - with only one single sensor chip. TLE5501 E0002 incorporates decoupled bridges for redundant external angle calculation and also offers high diagnostic coverage.
Since this TMR-based sensor doesn't require an additional internal amplifier, it can be connected directly to a microcontroller without further amplification. TMR also shows a very low-temperature drift reducing external calibration and compensation efforts. In addition, TMR technology is also well known for its low current consumption.
The TLE5501 family consists of two derivatives, TLE5501 E0001 and TLE5501 E0002
• TLE5501 E0001: the AEC-Q100 compliant QM version (pin-compatible to TLE5009)
• TLE5501 E0002: the ISO26262 ASIL D-compliant version (requires use of external safety mechanisms)
