Microchip Technology RN4678 PICtail / PICtail Plus Daughter Board
Microchip Technology RN4678 PICtail™ / PICtail Plus Daughter Board provides rapid prototyping and development for BLUETOOTH® Classic SPP and Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) applications. Featuring the Dual-mode Bluetooth RN4678 Module, this development board complies with Bluetooth Core Specification 4.2. The RN4678 Module is interfaced using a simple command interface over the UART. The board enables the evaluation of the RN4678 and the development of Bluetooth LE applications in two different ways. Out of the box, the RN4678 PICtail / PICtail Plus Daughter Board utilizes USB-to-Serial capability via an onboard MCP2200 Protocol Converter to communicate with the onboard RN4678 Module. When connected to a PC, the board will enumerate as Communication Device Class (CDC) Serial device. Developers can configure and control the module and transfer data using the easy-to-use provided command set through a terminal program. The Microchip Technology RN4678 PICtail / PICtail Plus Daughter Board can also be plugged into the Microchip Technology Explorer 16 Development Board (DM240001) or the PIC32 Starter Kit I/O expansion board (DM320002). The user can then develop firmware on the host MCU of their choice interfaced directly over UART to the RN4678 Module via the PICtail or PICtail Plus interface.
