TDK InvenSense SmartIndustrial™ Sensor Platforms

TDK InvenSense SmartIndustrial™ Sensor Platforms include six-axis MEMS inertial measurement units (IMUs) as well as three-axis accelerometers. The IIM-46230, IIM-46234, and IIM-42652 are six-axis IMUs that incorporate a three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer into a compact package while the IIM-42352 and IIM-42351 are three-axis accelerometers. All of these products provide a digital-output temperature sensor and are RoHS and green compliant. TDK InvenSense SmartIndustrial Sensor Platforms are ideally suited for a range of applications, including robotics, tilt sensing, platform stabilization, navigation, and industrial automation.

The IIM-46230 and IIM-46234 are packaged in a module with 23mm x 23mm x 8.5mm dimensions and a 20-pin connector. The IIM-46230 offers 4.1°/hour gyroscope bias instability, while the IIM-46234 has 1.9°/hour gyroscope bias instability. These sensors include multiple capabilities to enable easy, robust, and accurate inertial measurements in industrial applications. These platforms utilize a proprietary TDK SensorFT™ (Fault Tolerance) feature that delivers built-in redundancy and early warnings. Both types operate in a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The IIM-42652 platform comes in a small 2.5mm x 3mm x 0.91mm 14-pin LGA package with an extended temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. The IIM-42652 features a 2K-byte FIFO that can lower traffic on the serial bus interface and reduce power consumption by allowing the system processor to burst-read sensor data and then enter a low-power mode.

The IIM-42352 and IIM-42351 platforms provide a three-axis accelerometer packaged in a small 2.5mm x 3mm x 0.91mm 14-pin LGA module. The digital-output X-, Y-, and Z-axis accelerometer offers a programmable full-scale range of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g. These modules promote low noise (70µg/√Hz) and low power (0.3mA with all three axes delivering full performance). Both types support an extended temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
