Renesas Electronics Drive Circuit for a Heating or Inductive Coil

Renesas Electronics Drive Circuit for a Heating or Inductive Coil is designed to drive a heating coil. It can also be used for any inductive coil-based applications like a motor, wire for generating a magnetic field, or an inductor to propel. A microcontroller (MCU) sends a pulse width modulated signal to a gate driver that efficiently connects power to the driving element or removes the charge from it. A comparator and amplifiers are used to monitor current flow and trigger any overcurrent events.

Features

  • Improved drive efficiency with the help of RAA220001 gate driver
  • Improved load drive control using a combined MCU and gate driver
  • High bandwidth current measurement is achieved with the ISL28214 operational amplifier
  • Fast (1µs) overcurrent safety detection

Applications

  • Heating elements
  • Driving motors
  • Discrete DC/DC converters
  • Perimeter fencing
