Mouser-Sponsored Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing Team Gears up for the IMSA Battle at The Brickyard
September 18, 2024 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry's leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components™, is excited to cheer on the Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing team on September 22, 2024, as they head to the Racing Capital of The World, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), in Indianapolis, IN, for the Battle on the Bricks.
The 6-hour-long race is the penultimate race of the 2024 season. The road course, which uses part of the front stretch of the oval track, is 2.439 miles in length and has 14 corners. The IMS is steeped in history, built initially using hand-laid bricks in 1909, leading to its nickname, "The Brickyard." The IMS is the world's third-oldest permanent automobile racetrack and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, the only such site affiliated with automotive racing history. The weekend starts on September 20 with Practice #1 and continues to September 21, when Practice #2 and qualifying will be held later in the afternoon.
The 2024 season marks the sixth season Lexus and Vasser Sullivan have partnered together. The full-time driver lineups for Vasser Sullivan Racing include Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat in the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 in the GTD PRO class, with Parker Thompson and Frankie Montecalvo co-driving the No. 12 Lexus entry in the GTD class. Kyle Kirkwood and Aaron Telitz join the driver pairs in the No. 14, and 12 cars for select IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship endurance races this season.
Heading into Indianapolis, the No. 14 car is in fourth place in the GTD PRO class standings, and the No. 12 car is in sixth place in the GTD class standings. Both cars will be looking for a podium finish at The Brickyard to move up in the standings and finish the season on a good note.
Mouser and valued manufacturer partner Molex co-sponsor the Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing team, seeing the opportunity as an inventive way to communicate its performance-driven business model and promote the newest technologies.
After the Battle on the Bricks, the season finale race will be the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on October 12 in Braselton, Georgia.
