Mouser Sponsors Robotics Team HUGE in BattleBots Competition
June 6, 2018 - Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction leader empowering innovation, is pleased to announce that it will be a major sponsor of Team HUGE as they compete in the 2018 BattleBots tournament. BattleBots is a television series available in 150 countries in which competitors design and operate remote-controlled armed and armored machines designed to fight in a combat elimination tournament.
Team HUGE, based in South Windsor, Conn., is scheduled to compete in episode 5, airing on the Discovery Channel, June 8 at 7 p.m., and on the Science Channel, June 13 at 8 p.m. (both Central Daylight Time). Team members Jonathan Schultz, Peter Lombardo, Maddie Thumma, Garrett Santoline, and Alex Horne spent two years designing and six weeks constructing their battle-ready robot, which won its season-opening match on May 11.
"This is a fun and hugely entertaining program, but the technology offers real-world benefits," said Kevin Hess, Mouser's Senior Vice President of Marketing. "Robots are becoming more important in our lives, and the creativity of robot developers will change the way we work with robots in the future. Team HUGE are solving some real engineering challenges, and Mouser is proud to support this cutting-edge technology."
"Team HUGE thanks Mouser Electronics for this sponsorship and for showing that they truly believe in empowering independent engineers' creativity," said Team HUGE builder Jonathan Schultz. "With Mouser's support, we are definitely living up to our team name and anticipate an exciting season ahead."
